-       19/06 : When entering care programs for substance use disorders (SUD), patients in their 30s or 40s often display adult attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), far more than what would be expected if it was only a chance association. The literature give an important amount of epidemiological data to support the idea that childhood ADHD, especially when symptoms are persistent into adulthood, can be a risk factor for developing later SUD. We wanted here to explore the reverse hypothesis : could adult ADHD syndrome observed in patients with SUD be the expression of a toxic behavioral effect of chronic drug use ?

-       20/06 : The comorbidity between substance use disorders (SUDs) and other psychiatric disorders is the rule rather than the exception in individuals attending specialized care settings. Most of these situations are known to pose significant challenges for clinical care. However, more data is needed to increase our understanding of the risks associated with the most complex comorbidity patterns and associated psychiatric outcomes, all of which are highly prevalent and burdensome. We aimed at addressing these unmet needs by studying serious psychiatric outcomes (suicide attempts and psychotic symptoms) in well-defined highly-comorbid clinical patterns, as a basis for their better assessment and management in clinical practice.
